Ssaplam Therapies: Kinesiology

So, what is Kinesiology anyway? Kinesiology is a very powerful, modern, form of holistic complementary therapy. It combines ancient knowledge from traditional Chinese medicine with knowledge from a chiropractic and from original research. It dates back to the 1960s, and is becoming more widely known. It is now used in most countries in the world.

It is based on muscle resistance testing, assuming that different muscles relate to different organs and systems within the body. Muscle weakness indicates an imbalance within the system; either on a structural, chemical (nutritional), emotional, or subtle “energy” level. By correcting any imbalances within the body, Kinesiology may help or alleviate endless conditions. The testing is done whilst the person lies, fully clothed, normally on a couch. If a person is unable to allow the testing to be carried out directly — as with young children or babies; the elderly or infirmed; or someone with severe pain or who has undergone recent surgery; or even someone very athletic who is too strong — then it can be done via a surrogate, as long as physical contact is made between the person being tested and the surrogate.

By identifying weaknesses to particular muscles and correcting any imbalances within the body, it may help with conditions such as aches and pains; grief; stress; phobias; emotional problems; arthritic pain; headaches; sinusitis, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, migraines, indigestion and many other ailments; or to improve co-ordination and memory. It may detect allergies and food sensitivities; indicate vitamins, minerals and food supplements that you may benefit from. Techniques used are simple and gentle: they include holding or massaging acupuncture points, neuro-lymphatic or neuro-vascular reflexes; the use of colour, sound or meridians. Advice may be given on nutritional requirements, dietary changes, exercise, and simple techniques for reducing stress.

There are many Kinesiology techniques that may enhance your health and well being.

For instance, we are all aware that stress affects most of us at one time or another, especially in today’s modern world. Indeed stress is a key factor to most illnesses. Symptoms of stress can include: headaches; nausea; indigestion; rapid breathing; increased perspiration; palpitations; chest pains; constant tiredness; constipation or diarrhoea; cramps or muscle spasms; cravings for particular foods; dizziness; fainting spells; lack or appetite, or excessive appetite; nail biting; frequent crying, sometimes for no apparent reason; nervous twitches or muscle spasms; pins and needles; restlessness and sleeping problems.

Various Kinesiology techniques could be used to help alleviate stress. One very simple and effective technique can detect whether a person is suffering from general stress syndrome. If the muscle tests indicate general stress syndrome, this can be corrected by simply playing classical music (preferably Mozart) to a certain part of the body, (which is a particular acupuncture point), for a period of just two to three minutes. Contact us to arrange a Kinesiology treatment and you could learn how to help control your underlying stress by the use of this simple technique.

As a pre-test to all treatments we can tell in a few minutes whether your body may need more water. The many benefits of drinking sufficient water are detailed in our ► Water section; why not check out that section now?

For the maintenance of good heath, prevention is far better then cure. We think nothing of ensuring our cars are in good working order by taking them for a MOT; therefore it would make sense to have regular MOTs for our own bodies.

You don’t need to be ill to give you health a boost by coming for a treatment!

It is recommended that intially you take advantage of a free 30 minute consultation prior to any treatment.
